I am beginning a new series this Sunday. "Seeking the Heart of Jesus" will look at how Jesus encounters hurting people. The goal of this series will be accomplished if you and I can identify (1) the priority Jesus placed upon hurting people, (2) the ways in which Jesus cared for hurting people, (3) the impact his approach made upon hurting people, and (4) the steps we can take to care for hurting people.
I believe that we struggle to impact our world because we are "sowing our seed" in the wrong soil. How often do we tell people who "have no need for a Savior" about their need for a Savior? Don't get me wrong. We all need Jesus. There are many people, however, that do not recognize that need. I think that Jesus spent time with those who knew they needed help from God. The fertile soil of the hurting heart becomes a beautiful garden when the seeds of faith are planted there.
Let us explore the Word and see how Jesus cared for hurting people.
(This series is built upon the framework of the book, "Seeing the Heart of Christ," by Bill Crowder.)
