SEVEN ASSURANCES THE RESURRECTION GIVES: The Resurrection Assures us of the New Bodies We Can Have Some Day. (A blog post for a sermon to be preached at Kenwood Church in Livonia, MI, on June 2, 2019)

The promise of a new body may not excite everyone, but it excites me.  The last many months we have had a great number of people in hospitals and various rehab facilities.  The reasons differ and the causes have been different, but the fact that our bodies are fragile is a truth that eventually makes us more alike than different.  Growing up in a nursing home, I have watched more people go through physical deterioration and eventual death than I can count.

It gives me peace to know that one day all of this pain, suffering, fear, weakness, disease, anxiety, and sickness will be over.  We will be set free from the devastation of sin, and we will celebrate for eternity with a new body!

"But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body."

Philippians 3:20, 21 NIV
