Video: Kenwood Church Elders & Board Updates from 10 18 20

ANNOUNCEMENT by Dennis Fletcher (co-chairman of the elders)

Good morning,

The elders are asking for you to join us in prayer as we consider what worship service options are available to us going forward while continuing to balance safety concerns with going back inside the building.

These are not easy decisions given our great concern for one another and those “at risk” among us as well as contemplating the many potential restrictions being in the building such as:

  1. Needing to wearing a mask throughout the service except when taking communion
  2. Limiting interactions with each other
  3. Risk of singing in the building
  4. Limited seating capacity and the need to potentially use both the sanctuary and the fellowship hall
  5. Many tight areas for traffic flow in the building
  6. Attesting to not being sick or having been exposed to someone with COVID-19 as you enter the building
  7. Agreeing to being notified if we become aware that someone is sick

Please keep us in your prayers and ask God guide us in making the best decision.

We will share updates with you at the soonest possible point.

On behalf of the elders, we thank you for your prayers and continued support.

Announcement – Flat Roofs by Dion Parker (chairman of the general church board)

October 18, 2020

Over the past several years, we have been blessed by the Lord to be in a financial position to make the necessary improvements to keep our building and property in good shape and operating efficiently.

Interior renovations have included carpet replacement, new pew chairs, upgraded audio and video equipment, just to name a few things.

As for the outside of our building, we have been able to replace the peaked singled roof in November of 2014 at a cost of ~$30,000 and the garage roof in October of 2016 at a cost of ~$5,000. We have made significant parking lot repairs over the past several years and continue to monitor it and make repairs as needed.

Now we need to turn our attention to the flat roofs.

·        We have been monitoring their condition and making repairs as needed to extend their life.

·        Our flat roofs are 25 years old

·        They have been extended past their normal life expectancy through annual maintenance

Recently, the south flat roof has started leaking and needs to be replaced. Because of this, the general board has approved the trustees to spend up to $40,000 to:

·        Replace the south flat roof

·        Replace the south overhang

·        Make any necessary repairs to the north flat roof

The board considers all of these repairs as a good investment in our building.

We have been prudent with our spending, and we will continue to be good stewards of what God has blessed us with.

If you have any questions about any of these topics, please feel free to contact myself or any of the board members.

From the elders and general board, we thank you for your continued support and prayers.
