VIDEO: 5-10-20 Sermon "RADICAL FAITH: Faith trusts even when the promise takes longer than expected"

As we worship together "from house to house," we give glory to our God who never changes.  Although our circumstances change on a daily basis, we give glory to our God who never changes.  While our lives ebb and flow with every twitch and turn of the globe, we give glory to our God who never changes.  Our God never changes.

As we gather together this Sunday in our own homes, we invite you to sing along with the worship videos.  We encourage you to take the Lord’s Supper in your home at 10:00am.  In this way, we can take communion together even though we are apart.  Pray for the lost.  Watch my message about Radical Faith.  Accept the challenge to demonstrate your faith in the God who has not fulfilled your wishes yet..  Respond to the invitation.  Watch the bonus video of one of my favorite songs.

WORSHIP

COMMUNION

Read Matthew 26:26-29 New International Version (NIV) "While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”  Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”  Here is a possible communion prayer to say before you take the bread and the juice, "It is right and good to give you thanks and praise, O God, because from the beginning, you invited us on a journey with you, a journey of wonders and miracles, a journey of healing and joy, a journey of mystery, a journey full of life and love.  We look toward that day when our journey ends with you in your Father's kingdom.  In Jesus' name, amen."

Take the Lord's Supper.

PRAYER

Pray for our nation as states begin to "open up."  Pray for wisdom for our governmental leaders who determine our public health policy.  Pray for the vulnerable.

MESSAGE

“By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise. And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:9-12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

CHALLENGE

Make a list of 2 times you gave up on your faith because “it was just taking too long.” Write down how you can reengage your faith with God in these two items. Pray for guidance on how you can actively demonstrate your faith in the God who has not fulfilled your wishes yet.

INVITATION

It is our custom to offer an "invitation" following the preaching of the Word at Kenwood Church.  You may want to follow Jesus.  You may want to proclaim your faith.  You may want to repent (stop doing ungodly things and start doing Godly things).  Perhaps you want to be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  If you have been moved by the Holy Spirit to make a decision in your life, I encourage you to speak with me via phone (248-476-8222) or an email (toddlackie@kenwoodchurch.org).  I would be honored to speak with you about what God is doing in your life and try to connect you with a community of faith in your area.
